When the Saferoom is included into or under a to be established new building (garage, house extension, etc.), it will be treated as part of the basement and will not require any additional and special approval. The Saferoom will just be part of your regular building permit request. As a stand-alone project (in your garden, driveway, etc.), there are no restrictions or regulations as of today, as long as you stay within the regulated boundaries of your property. This may change in the future due to the unique type of this project. We recommend to check with the local construction authorities before starting your Saferoom project.

The Saferoom can be used as additional storage space, workshop, “Man-Cave”, etc. Since it is soundproof, it could ideally serve as a gaming room. With the increasing crime rate, it also provides you with a perfect area for a Panic room. All this at ZERO cost, since your Saferoom is totally service and maintenance free. Last but not least, the Saferoom will increase the overall value of your property.

Most public shelters are outdated and have been neglected for the last 30+ years. With the increased population number, the public shelter capacities in most countries cannot even provide safety for a fraction of the citizen’s overspill. Locally we are entitled to 0,6 m² per person. No personal belongings - no pets. Most shelters are located around congested urban areas, so you’ll have to consider several hours of driving without knowing whether the shelter will be overcrowded, outdated or simply not available by the time you get there. Your private Saferoom will eliminate all those issues. “Your home is your fortress”.

Even though the VA-40 NBC-proof ventilation system of a SARO20’ can handle up to a maximum of 13 people, we recommend the Saferoom to be occupied with a maximum of 6 people. It is too stressful to be cramped with more people in a hermetically sealed area of 14,4 m² over many hours. History has taught us that air raids or other related threats of that kind can last up to 24hrs, so you want to have a maximum of space, provisions and comfort available for that duration. >Limit the Saferoom access only to your family and pets.
